dpa7374318 (dpa) - Curious onlookers stand around the dead carcass of a humpback whale on the beach at the Baltic Sea in Gross Schwansee, Germany, 4 July 2003. Researchers had found the whale floating in the ocean the previous day. The whale which is alomst seven metres in length is still a pup and first assumptions are that the whale may have died of hunger and that he may have floated already for some days in the sea. The animal will be transported to the city of Stralsund where it will be dissected. The last time a humpback whale was sighted in the area was in 1984 but he found his way back into the North Sea. It happens very rarely that humpback and dwarf whales get lost in these areas.
