The sinking of La Bourgogne. Bodies of drowned victims of the disaster washed up on Sable Island. The French ocean liner SS La Bourgogne sank after colliding with the sailing ship Cromartyshire in thick fog off Sable Island, Nova Scotia. More than 500 passengers and crew died in the accident, including the liner's captain, Antoine Charles Louis Deloncle, who refused to leave the bridge of his sinking vessel. Naufrage de La Bourgogne.
