WTL482931 The imposing Greek Revival Brooklyn Borough Hall was originally designed by Calvin Pollard (1797-1850). However, due to financial problems, the building project did not get beyond the foundations. Gamaliel King (1795-1875) revised the design and construction was completed in 1848. The bronze statue of Virtue on the roof, a part of the original design, was not built with the building. It was created from drawings and documents.

Known as the 'father of public relations' he was hired by the American Tobacco Company in the 1920s for a campaign to persuade women to start smoking.
