Emile, or On Education is a treatise on the nature of education and on the nature of man. A sculpted bust of Jean Jacques Rousseau set in a garden, with figures engaged in activities representing different steps of the education of children. At the bottom the saying 'Man's Education Begins at Birth'; 'L'Education de l'Homme commence a sa naissance'. Engraved by Robert Delaunay the young (1749-1814) after a drawing (1780) by Charles Nicolas Cochin the young (1715-1790).
