The new lighthouse of Eckmuhl and its electric beam on the tip of Saint-Pierre, at Penmarc'h (Finistere) near Quimper - engraving published in Le Petre Parisien Illustre on the occasion of the inauguration of the lighthouse on October 17, 1897 - 1: a lighthouse of the past - 3: the keepers of the lighthouse - 4: birds drawn by the lights - It was at the lights the most powerful beacon of the world. 64 metres high, it dominates by 23 metres the old lighthouse, which can be seen in the background in the centre of the engraving.
