UIG2904103 The Champ de Mars is a large public green-space in Paris located in the Seventh Arrondissement, between the Eiffel Tower to the northwest and the Ecole Militaire to the southeast. The name of the park translates as Mars Field, after Mars, the Roman god of war and was originally used for military drills. During 1895, the Champ de Marse played host to an extravagant Russian Exhibition, one that promoted by the equestrian prowess and the ethnographic majesty of that nation. The Caran dAche poster promoted the cultural majesty of the event. Caran dAche was the pseudonym of the 19th century French satirist and political cartoonist Emmanuel Poir? (November 6, 1858 ? February 26, 1909).
