The siege tower, known as the Helepolis, used during the Siege of Rhodes in 305–304 BC, one of the most notable sieges of antiquity, when Demetrius I (337–283 BC), Greek King of Macedonia from 294 to 288 BC, besieged Rhodes in an attempt to make it abandon its neutrality and close relationship with Ptolemy I, companion of Alexander the Great.
