What a fab pulp paperback cover. It was published in 1959 and centred on the race to discover details of the Nazi's secret weapons developments at Peenemunde. The bloke looks all cold-war spy chic (he's not fallen asleep, just squinting at the camera), while our glamorous spy is channelling early Brigitte Bardot (and about to throw her car keys into a bowl!). Between them the rocket pushes vertically onto the sky, although the publishers Corgi Books have turned the painting through 90 degrees - the rocket took off at a much gentler angle in real life (and was considerably shorter!)
