alb5578771 Mosasaur swimming in the Meuse River. The first Mosasaur found and named discovered near the Meuse River and city of Maastricht of the Netherlands.. Among the largest, if not the largest, of the Mosasaurus original estimates ranged as long as 58 feet, but by 2014 better methods were discovered giving a large specimen a length of about 45 feet. Mosasaurs in general are not dinosaurs but literally lizards adapted to an aquatic environment. It is believed they are related to modern monitor lizards such as the Nile Monitor and Komodo Dragon.

alb5579001 Rajasaurus in the Lameta Formation of Western India. Titanosaurus graze in the background.. Rajasaurus was found in the Lameta Formation in western India in what is now the Narmada River Valley. Dated to 72-66 million years ago, Lameta was forested and had some river systems. India at this time was a large island making its way north to collide with central Asia/China.. From some skull remains and a few other remains and fragments Rajasaurus is determined to be an Abelisaur not distantly related to Majungasaurus. Lack of remains hamper size estimates which range from 22 feet and barely 2 tons to 34 feet and over 3 tons. Here it is depicted with some speculative tiger striping.. It shared the landscape with many animals including the medium sized sauropod Titanosaurus. They are estimated at about 40 feet long and maybe 13 tons.

A large ceratopsian, Bravoceratops is being spied upon by T-rex near some trees. A few Troodons come up the water's edge in the lower left and in the background a small herd of Alamosaurus make their way to the river. An Azdarchid flies above. Quetalcoatlus most likely.

This scene might have happened around 77 million years ago. In the foreground are Pentaceratops. A medium sized ceratopsian about 18 feet long and 2.5 tons. Midway back and to the left are Parasaurolophus tubicen. A fair sized Hadrosaur they might be as big as 36 feet and 5 tons. A full sized adult would prove a challenge for the local predator. Bistahieversor was a tyrannosaurid and estimated 30-33 feet and 3 tons.

alb5576667 Carcharodontosaurus chasing after an Ouranosaurus in the wetlands of North Africa.. This is a depiction of North Africa from about 97 million years ago. An area the size of the Sahara was a vast wetland and river system. One of the top land predators was Carcharodontosaurus with an estimated length of 40-44 feet and weight 7-8 tons and knife blade like teeth. One of its likely prey was the Iguanodont Ouranosaurus. Fairly large at 23-27 feet long and 4-5 tons in weight, but small enough that it could be taken down fairly easily by a large Carcharodontosaurus.
