20250408_zaf_x99_312 BEIJING, April 11, 2025 A researcher displays the lunar sample to be tested at the Nano Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometer Laboratory (NanoSIMS Lab) of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, capital of China, April 8, 2025.. The latest discovery from rock samples returned by China's Chang'e-6 lunar mission reveals that the moon's mantle contains less water on the far side compared to the near side, suggesting that the ''hidden hemisphere,'' which always faces away from Earth, tends to be much drier. The latest discovery from rock samples returned by China's Chang'e-6 lunar mission reveals that the moon's mantle contains less water on the far side compared to the near side, suggesting that the ''hidden hemisphere,'' which always faces away from Earth, tends to be much drier.. Published in the journal Nature on Wednesday, a new study by Chinese scientists found that the water content in each gram of the thick rocky layer beneath the moon's far side surface is less than 2 micrograms, the lowest record ever reported..TO GO WITH ''China Focus: Drier lunar far side offers insight on moon's evolution' (Credit Image: © Jin Liwang/Xinhua/Zuma Press/Fotoarena)

Koh Chang, located in Thailand's Trat Province, is an ideal destination for Westerners looking to escape winter. December is one of the best times to visit, as the weather is dry and sunny, making it perfect for beach relaxation and exploring the island's natural beauty. Koh Chang has retained much of its local charm. While modern amenities are available, the island has avoided the overdevelopment seen in other tourist hotspots. 20241002_shm_z03_604 October 2, 2024 - Tropical Atlantic Ocean - Although Hurricane Kirk (right side) is the only named storm now spinning far out in the Atlantic Ocean, forecasters continue to watch a disturbance closer to home in the Caribbean Sea for possible development next week. Hurricane Kirk is 'strengthening and forecast to grow larger.' However, all current forecast models show the system curving north and into the middle of the Atlantic, well away from the U.S. coast. The hurricane center said late Wednesday morning Kirk was located about 1,260 miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands with maximum sustained winds near 85 mph, with higher gusts, and is expected to move northwestward for the next few days. 20240620_zip_j163_024 June 20, 2024, Dhaka, Dhaka, Bangladesh: Bangladeshi women are carrying drinking water after collecting it from a fresh-water source, walking a long way to collect drinking water in the coastal area of Khulna, Bangladesh.According to research from the American Geophysical Union, rising sea levels, which are affecting the availability of clean drinking water, will cause approximately 1.3 million people to migrate across the country by 2050. A combination of tidal flooding, storm surge inundation, and saltwater intrusion is leading to an increase in salinity in the groundwater and fresh-water ponds, causing an acute drinking water crisis in the coastal area of Bangladesh, especially in several areas of Khulna. Drinking water sources are often contaminated or located so far away that hours of travel on foot are required to secure daily water needs in areas often ravaged by storms and flooding. As women from coastal areas are also using saline water for household work, such as washing clothes and cleaning utensils, they are suffering from related skin issues. Women commonly face higher risks and greater burdens from the lack of fresh water, which is linked to climate change. (Credit Image: © Abu Sufian Jewel/ZUMA Press Wire)
