PAR414004 The very regular rhythm of the life on board is very important for the balance of their lives. As in all these types of closed door situation, the progress of time- the bio-chronology - is very different from what we know. Parents and children adapt very well. It's the same for the temperatures. In a very dry atmosphere as it is the case at this latitude, the cold has nothing to do with the colds we know in our countries. Here, in cabins at night, it is a little less than zero degree. Curiously we sleep there - without exaggerating- rather much better than somewhere else. It does not prevent from wearing a hat.

LON164088 INDIA. Madhya Pradesh. 2005. Migrant dalit workers and their families take a short break under the shelter of a tree. Temperatures had soared well above 48 degress celcius here and the land around being almost barren led to almost blinding light being reflected of the dusty surface. These workers would cut rocks for a living for a measly 50 rupees (less than $1) a day, working the whole day with a couple of short breaks .They had migrated from the state of Rajasthan in search for employment and thus a better life. Migration is big problem in india today. Contractors get cheap (exploited) labour from elsewhere which forces the local labour to also migrate in search of employment thus forcing the labour to get stuck in what can be called a 'vicious circle of exploitation/unemployment' . This is the reason why it is common to find Rajasthani workers in Madhya Pradesh, workers from Madhya Pradesh in Bihar, Bihari workers in Delhi and so on......

Denise (far left), holding her nephew, and her six sons, along with Kim, Paul's sister, at central station. Paul talked with Denise about his job, about how careful he had to be. He told her he was against firefighters carrying enough oxygen for sixty minutes instead of thirty. "No one should be in a burning building for sixty minutes."

Showing endo-tracteal tube, Umbilical catheter, electrode, and temperature probe. The smallest patients in the newborn intensive care nursery at St JosephÕs Hospital owe their lives Ð and their excellent prospects for living normally Ð to a statewide program that in its first six years, changed ArizonaÕs newborn mortality rate from the bottom to the top quartile nationwide.David Hurn spent a year in the preemie ard at St JosephÕs. He observed how each baby was gradually transformed in the minds of its parents from a pathetic, wired-up creature to a loved child with a personality and a future. HurnÕs perceptions evolved in much the same way. At first he was appalled by the preemies and could not tell them apart; by the end of his stay he found the five- and six pounders in the regular nursery next door coarse by comparison.
