akg7956924 VASE IN HU-SHAPE WITH MIT ANTELOPE HEADS.China. Qing dynastie. Late 18th to 19th c.Porcelain, painted in famille rose colors. The pear-shaped vase on a high footring. The scene shows a birthday reception in the paradise of the immortals. Shoulao with his immense peach gets rowed in boat, beautiful ladies floating on clouds are bringing gifts. In a pavillon a scholar is sitting near an old pine and a blooming peach. Behind him two maidens are holding fans of honor. Flowers and red bats are hoovering above. The two handles in the shape of antelope heads are sitting beneath the opening which is adorned by a ruyi border. Above the foot a leaf border. Height 44cm. Condition A/B.Provenance: -Estate C.Th. Auction 1, October 16, 1959, Lot No. 565.-Lempertz Auction 462, November 11, 1960, Lot No. 1073. -Swedish private collection, since 1963. Carl Theodor Adolf Deichmann (1866-1931) was banker from the Cologne banker family Deichmann, owner of the identically named, bank company Deichmann & Comp, founded in 1858. The still existing Palais Deichmann (Deichmannhaus) is situatedin Trankgasse 7-9 right in front of the Cologne Cathedral. The building in its current form is from the year 1913. Carl Th. Deichmann lived in the left part of the builing with his family, where he also kept enourmous art collection. The estate of Deichmann was auctioned at Kunsthaus Lempertz in May 1932 and contained as well as early german porcelain a large offer of asian ceramics. The present vase can be found in the initial catalogue under Lot.no. 266 and was, according to the catalogue originally sold as a pair. .
