dpa7363473 (dpa files) - The accused industrialists (from L:) Friedrich Flick, Otto Steinbrinck, Konrad Kaletsch, Bernhard Weiss and Hermann Terberger are in the dock during the Nuremberg Trials in the court in Nuremberg, Germany, 15 March 1947. Born on 10 July 1883 in Ernstdorf, Germany, Friedrich Flick was the founder of the Mitteldeutsche Stahlwerke (central German steel works) in 1929. The steel works expanded to one of the leading montan companies in the 1930s and 1940s. At the end of World War II when the International Military Tribunal was established by the USA, Britain, France, and the Soviet Union to indict and try former Nazi Party leaders as war criminals, Flick was also convicted for seven years in prison by the Nuremberg Trials. However, he was released sooner, and then founded a new iron and steel company with headquarters in Duesseldorf (Flick group). He died on 20 July 1972 in Konstanz.
