Zum KLEINEN WOHNPALAST DES DARIUS (Dareios I.): schließt sich an den Südwestturm des Apadana an und wurde altpersisch TACHARA genannt. Palast auf 2,50 m hoher Terrassenanlage mit Wachstuben und Tordurchgängen, die von Wächterfiguren in den Laibungen gesäumt werden. Im Zentrum des Darius-Palastes steht eine Halle mit 12 Säulen. Huldigungen des Königs Dareios I. (Darius I.). Zu Persepolis: 60 km nordöstlich Provinzhauptstadt Shiraz zu Füßen des Kuh-e Mehr (auch: Kuh-e Rahmat, Berg der Barmherzigkeit), 900 km südlich Teheran. persisch auch "Tacht-e Dschamschid", "Thron des Dschamdschid", alpersisch "Parsa", altgriechisch Persopolis = "Stadt der Perser". 15 ha (300 m x 500 m) große Terrassenanlage, errichtet ab 520 v. Chr. unter Dareios I. (Darius I.), niedergebrannt durch Alexander den Großen 330 v. Chr. löste die alte Residenz Pasargadae ab. Hintergrund Persepolis: Altpersische Residenzstadt, altpersisch Parsa, persisch Thron des "Dschamschid" genannt. Dschamdschid bezieht sich auf einen König der Frühzeit. Hauptstadt des Perserreiches der Achämeniden. Gegründet 520 v. Chr. durch Großkönig Darius (Dareios) I. in der Region Persis (heute: Provinz Fars). Weitere Herrscher: Xerxes I. Xerxes II., Darius II., Dareios II. Artaxerxes. Persepolis ist griechisch und bedeutet "Stadt der Perser". Die Residenz wurde aus dem 50 km entfernt Pasargadae hierher an den Fuß des Berges Kuh-e Mehr (auch: Kuh-e Rahmat) verlegt. Die Palaststadt wurde 330 v. Chr. durch Alexander den Großen zerstört (Feuer. Brandschatzung). UNESCO-Welterbe seit 1979. Lage: 60 km nördlich Shiraz auf der Hochebene von Marvdascht, 900 km südlich Teheran. Ab 100 n.
