The original musical score of Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 with the written bottom line German words "Freude, schoener Goetterfunken" (Joy, beautiful spark of the gods) is pictured at the library's treasure chamber in Berlin, Germany, May 6, 2024. The original musical score, displaying the fourth movement, where choir sings several verses from Friedrich von Schiller's "Ode to Joy" at the same time in the passage opened here - "Joy, beautiful spark of the gods, daughter of Elysium – Be embraced millions, this kiss of the whole world". The original autograph of Beethoven's 9th Symphony, completed 200 years ago and probably performed at the premiere in Vienna on May 7, 1824 is taken directly from the State Library's vault to for an exhibition.
