International Women's Day, Poland?s first abortion clinic, Abotak, opened in Warsaw at Wiejska 9, directly opposite the Polish Parliament (Sejm). The initiative was launched by Aborcyjny Dream Team (ADT), a feminist activist group supporting access to abortion since 2016..The Abotak clinic provides medication abortion services without requiring patients to disclose their reasons for terminating a pregnancy. The founders cite the World Health Organization (WHO) definition of health, which includes physical, mental, and social well-being, arguing that forcing someone to carry an unwanted pregnancy poses a health risk..The clinic is open to anyone seeking an abortion, regardless of their age, nationality, financial status, or health condition. ADT activists emphasize that they do not ask for reasons and have no intention of changing this policy. They argue that many women in Poland lack access to abortion, even in cases explicitly permitted under Polish law. Located near the Polish Parliament, the clinic's placement is a deliberate move to pressure politicians and the healthcare system to fulfill promises of legal abortion access. ADT states: ''We were promised legal abortion, but nothing has changed. Politicians fail to act, so we are taking action ourselves. We want abortion to be accessible in Poland now.''.The founders assure that Abotak operates within Polish law. They emphasize that self-managed abortion is not a crime, and medication abortion is legally supported. ADT has already helped thousands of women obtain safe abortions every year.
