On the occasion of the centenary of the death of Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida, the Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre is dedicating a collection of commemorative coins to the Spanish painter of greatest international renown of his time and one of the leading figures in the history of Spanish art as a whole. The collection is composed of three coins, one of four escudos and face value of 200 â?¬, in gold of 999 thousandths, a fiftieth coin with face value of 50 â?¬, in silver of 925 thousandths and in color, and a silver ounce with face value of 10 â?¬, in silver of 999 thousandths, also in color.
