| Descrição: | Saturn. Cutaway illustration of the planet Saturn, showing its internal structure. At 120,000km across, Saturn is the second largest planet in the solar system. Its core of rock (grey) is encased in a frozen layer of metallic hydrogen and helium (dark blue), which is itself enclosed in a layer of liquid hydrogen (dotted blue). The rest of the planet consists of hydrogen gas, making Saturn less dense on average than water. Saturn's rings consist of millions of fragments of ice-coated rock orbiting the planet. The gap in the rings is caused by gravity from Saturn's moon. |
