| Descrição: | Australopithecus robustus fossil, being held by a palaeontologist. This fossil was discovered in 1994 at the Drimolen cave in South Africa. Two Australopithecus robustus skulls were discovered there including an almost complete skull and lower jaw of a female, one of the most complete hominid skulls ever found. The male mandible was also found nearby. Their estimated age is between 1.5 and 2.0 million years old, and the species would have lived successfully for nearly a million years alongside species with our own genus, Homo.
