| Descrição: | Ocular rosacea in a Hispanic teenage male patient. This condition causes inflammation of the eyes and the skin around them, leading to reddened, itchy, dry eyes. This case has caused corneal scarring, which is improving. It is not known what causes ocular rosacea. It may occur in patients with facial rosacea (permanent reddening of the skin), or may occur on its own. It is unusual for it to appear in childhood as it generally appears after the age of 30. Males and females are equally affected. Treatment is with long term antibiotics. Lubricating eyedrops and anti-inflammatory drugs can ease the symptoms. |
