| Descrição: | Nembutal (also known as pentobarbital, sodium-secobarbital sodium), 100 mg capsules. A barbiturate, this drug is used in the short-term treatment of insomnia. It is also used as a sedative to relieve anxiety and induce sleep before surgery. Barbituates are a type of depressant, a drug that depresses the function or activity of a specific part of the brain. Depressants are also occasionally referred to as "downers." Depressants are widely used throughout the world as prescription medicines and as illicit substances. Effects include anxiolysis, pain relief, sedation or somnolence, cognitive/memory impairment, as well as in some instances euphoria, dissociation, muscle relaxation, lowered blood pressure or heart rate, respiratory depression, and anticonvulsant effects; complete anesthesia or death at can result at high doses. |
