Descrição: | At the end of World War II, American forces occupied South Korea and Russian forces occupied North Korea, with the 38th parallel of latitude as the dividing line. North Korea was administered by a Provisional People’s Committee after Feb. 9, 1946. On Sept. 9, 1948, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea was established, and the last Soviet troops left Korea by the end of the year. DPRK is a country in East Asia, capital — Pyongyang. It constitutes the northern half of the Korean Peninsula and shares borders with China and Russia to the north at the Yalu (Amnok) and Tumen rivers, and South Korea to the south at the Korean Demilitarized Zone.
