alb5578142 Artist's concept of the Javelina Formation in Texas. Pictured are Bravoceratops, a few troodons and a small herd of Alamosaurus.. This is a depiction of some of the fauna of the Javelina Formation in western Texas near Big Bend National Park. Age estimates for this formation are 69-66 million years ago. A large ceratopsian, Bravoceratops is being spied upon by T-rex near some trees. A few Troodons come up the water's edge in the lower left and in the background a small herd of Alamosaurus make their way to the river. An Azdarchid flies above. Quetalcoatlus most likely.

alb3895860 Zhenyuanopterus is the genus of a moderately large pterosaur with a wingspan of about 12 feet and weight of about 50 pounds. Known for its long needle-like teeth, this flying reptile soared in the skies of Early Cretaceous China about 125 million years ago and likely fed upon fish.
DC
alb3881726 Zhejiangopterus is the genus of a moderately large azhdarchid pterosaur with a wingspan of about 12 feet and weight of about 50 pounds. Known for its long neck and lack of a long protruding head keel typical of other pterosaurs, this flying reptile soared in the skies of Late Cretaceous China about 81 million years ago and likely fed upon fish.

alb3886960 The late Cretaceous circa 66 million years ago. Tyranosaurus Rex returning to his kill and finding some poaching Dromaeosaurid (raptor) type of dinosaurs.

alb3888084 Artist's concept of fauna that was dominant in the early Cretaceous of North America. Some of these species have been found east to west, and some only confirmed in the midwest and west. Sauroposeidon; sauropod, Acrocanthosaurus; carcharodont, Deinonychus; dromaeosaur, Sauropelta; ankylosaur, Tenontosaurus; iguanodot, Ceratodus; lungfish, Coloborhynchus; pterosaur.

alb3879541 Deinonychus & Coloborhynchus birds feed on a dinosaur carcass. Deinonychus was a dromaeosaur (raptor) from the early Cretaceous. They were about 12 feet long and 3 1/2 feet high at the hip. They had the trademark, long toe claw and sharp talons on their hands. It is assumed they were feathered, but no fossil specimen has turned up with soft tissue or feather evidence.
DC
alb3897044 Two Yangchuanosaurus dinosaurs running across a stream as a volcano erupts with smoke and ash.
DC
alb3879720 A feathered Microraptor alights atop a tree fern 120 million years ago in what is today Liaoning, China. Microraptor is one of the smallest dinosaurs ever discovered. Microraptor's entire body was covered with feathers including a broad stabilizing tail and elongated feathers for flying on both its arms and legs, leading to its classification as a four-winged dromaeosaur.

alb3887170 A flock of Dorygnathus soars high over a rugged, Early Jurassic European landscape of Wollemi Pine approximately 180 million years ago.. Dorygnathus had a wing span of about 3 feet and its large, curved fangs suggests that it dined primarily on fish. Like all pterosaurs, Dorygnathus was a flying reptile, not a dinosaur (the flying descendents of the dinosaurs live on today as birds).
DC
alb3885233 Eudimorphodon's of the late Triassic period flying through the sky. The Eudimorphodon is one of the oldest known pterosaurs with a wingspan of over three feet and a diet consisting mainly of fish, making it piscivorous.

alb3884754 Sauroposeidon graze on American Sycamore and Flowering Magnolia while feathered Deinonychus look on. The location is a river delta on the Western Interior Seaway 110 million years ago during the Early Cretaceous Period in what is today southeastern Oklahoma.. Sauroposeidon is the tallest known dinosaur with a neck that could reach up to 56 feet high. Deinonychus on the other hand was a relatively small predator, 11 feet long and standing about three feet tall at the hip. It was a close relative to the smaller velociraptor which emerged later in Central Asia. Deinonychus wasn't powerful enough to bring down a giant like an adult sauroposeidon, however they did likely prey on juvenile or sick adults of the species.

alb3891750 In 1971, fossils of a velociraptor and a protoceratops were found locked in combat. Aside from that, there is no direct evidence as to what velociraptors ate. It is not unreasonable to assume, though, that this turkey-sized dinosaur snacked rat sized mammals of the day.

alb3894532 Artist's concept of a Utahraptor. Fossils of this dinosaur were first found in Utah, United States in 1991. It was very intelligent and hunted prey in packs during the Cretaceous period.
